We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Early Childhood Educator who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness, and empowerment; to our clients, families, and each other.



The Early Childhood Educator works as part of a team providing a positive learning environment that supports children’s emotional, social, cognitive, and physical growth and development. Wesley’s Registered Early Childhood Educators care for and observe children each day to understand and foster their interests and provide an engaging and stimulating environment and program.


This position is a unionized, full-time, permanent position. The rate of pay is $18.65 per hour. Wage subsidy and wage enhancement are available in addition to the rate of pay based on criteria and funding available. Hours per week are 40.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop, plan, promote, implement, and evaluate day-to-day operations of the programs with the support of the Supervisor Early Years and other staff.
  • Plan and implement programming based on the Ministry of Education’s pedagogy “How Does Learning Happen?”
  • Create and maintain a safe learning environment that is responsive to the interests and needs of the children in the program.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to licensing requirements per the Ministry of Education, Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).
  • Provide quality, play-based learning, and supervision of all children in the care of Wesley at all times.
  • Ensure program needs are being met and in compliance with program licensing requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What you will bring:


  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with children from infants to school age, and their families. Experience working in a CCEYA licensed program, with parents and with community partners.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation i.e. Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).
  • Current First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling Certificate, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (N.V.C.I.) training.
  • ECERS, SACERS training, and Quest 1(High Five) training an asset.
