IT Systems Admin & Cybersecurity Specialist

- The IT Systems Administrator Cybersecurity Lead is responsible for the development, implementation, delivery and support of a corporate cyber security strategy.
- Provides direct informational security technical expertise and support to management, IT teams and special projects.
- Leads security activities, conducts security audits, research, and investigations on all internal Information Systems security violations and systems abuse.
- Coordinate risk assessments using industry frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST CSFT) for new projects, applications, and 3rd party vendors.
- Assesses infrastructure and applications to address IT security needs ensuring adherence and proposing solutions.
- Recommend, plan, and implement new security technologies, practices, and improvements.
- Works closely with business and technical leaders including project teams, determines courses of action within professional services standards, departmental procedures, policy guidelines and legislative requirements.
- Provides Tier 2 user support to enhance operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement enterprise security awareness and training programs.
Education & Experience:
- The competencies for this position would typically be acquired through a Diploma in Computer Science with emphasis on computing and networking infrastructures plus 5 years of practical experience in information systems which includes a minimum of 2 years in information security administration in a complex information systems environment.
- Advanced knowledge in current and emerging technology trends, developments and best security industry best practices, current risks and emerging threats; IT systems and systems maintenance.
- Advanced knowledge in information security guidelines, concepts, and technical security controls
- Advanced business process and technology analysis skills
- Advanced knowledge in EDR/XDR, vulnerability management practices and tools
- Knowledge in information security incident management and incident response
- Experience with core security technologies such as security information and event monitoring systems (SIEM), firewalls, network and host intrusion prevention and detection systems, proxies, vulnerability scanners, and anti-virus solutions
- Advanced experience with Microsoft 365 tools and features; expereience with other cloud vendors, design, architecture and security management
- Experience and understanding of AD, DNS, RADIUS, PKI, Virtualization
- Experience with TCP/IP, Routing, VLAN, and VPN
- Strong analytical skills, have a high attention to details
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and a track record of delivering exceptional IT service
- One or more of the industry certifications preferred: Security+, CEH, CISA, SANS, CISM, CISSP
