Do you have experience and/or training in working with learners of English as a Second Language?

We’re looking for a friendly, sensitive individual with excellent communication skills to become our LINC ESL Educational Assistant.
A little about what you bring to Care for Newcomers:

• Sensitivity and understanding of the challenges faced by newcomers to Canada
• Certificate or diploma in a related field
• Experience and/or training in working with learners of English as a Second or Additional Language
• Awareness of philosophy and methods of adult education
• Availability from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm Monday to Thursday
• Organizational skills with the ability to work independently and with other colleagues

A little about what you’ll do:

• Assist instructors with resources, materials, and class supervision
• Assist students, monitor, and facilitate small groups as per instructor’s request
• Work one on one with students as per instructor’s request, evaluating their progress and communicating these to the instructor
• Attend meetings and in-house presentations to stay current on the job
• Perform general, administrative tasks like making copies, filing, sorting, organizing and replenishing materials.
