As a key member of the Material Control team, the LSS Shipping Coordinator will report to the Manager, Material Control and is responsible for coordinating and managing the shipping process for the organization and provide direction on shipping to vendors and the shipping department.
- Recommend and select best methods of transportation of material to and from Line Maintenance Base(s)/Transit Line Maintenance Base(s).
- Coordinate with shipping vendors to provide timelines and cost(s).
- Ensure shipping costs to and from LMB/TLMB are in line with budget by sourcing shipping quotes on behalf of all departments.
- Negotiate rates and service agreements with couriers and freight forwarding companies.
- Plan and track shipments based on product availability and customer requirements, ensuring orders make timely deliveries.
- Work with customs brokers/freight forwarders/CBSA/Couriers to facilitate expedient clearance of shipments.
- Respond to questions/complaints from internal/external organization
- Prepare, review, and organize all shipment documentation, invoices, quotes, and service provider records.
- Make process improvements on shipping processes and provide follow-up training to departments involved in the shipping process, when required.
- Review freight invoices and approved cost for Finance
- Additional duties as required.
- 3 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of international shipping and customs practices
- Dangerous Goods Certified.
- WHMIS Certified.
- Capable of working under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to identify solutions.
- High degree of attention to detail.
- Capable of multitasking and making timely operational decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient computer skills with an emphasis on MS Office Suite.
You must be legally eligible to work for a Canadian company (e.g., be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or possess a valid work permit) and provide a clear Criminal Background Check.
