Managing Editor
Melville

The managing editor will be responsible for directing story and photography coverage for the papers. They will work with reporters to ensure articles are on track to be completed on time and provide feedback and advice on stories through the editing process.
Duties Include:
- Editing stories for the newspapers.
- Assigning stories and photos for reporters where necessary.
- Writing stories when necessary.
- Occasionally writing editorials for the opinion pages
- Planning overall page layout with Grasslands News staff.
Qualifications
- Exceptional writing and editing skills
- Strong news judgement, patience and proven leadership capabilities
- A degree or diploma in journalism or related experience
- Professional-level grasp of grammar and Canadian Press style
- Strong journalistic ethics
- Working knowledge of In Design and Photoshop, or technological know-how to learn quickly
- Excellent time management to meet deadlines.
- Be a team player and be able to work well with others.
- Qualified candidates should be comfortable with the mechanics of working in a newsroom.
- All candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be capable to drive in various road conditions. A company vehicle is provided.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
