Materials Planner - Manufacturing

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan production material based on customer releases and production schedule
- Expedite required materials to support ongoing production
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities
- Generate commodity cost estimates to build sourcing, negotiations, and supplier development strategies
- Collaborate with other departments to verify compliance to budget and timings
- Responsible for supplier performance analysis in areas of quality and delivery
- Maintains supplier files, purchase prices, price fluctuations, and quality records using JD Edwards
- Monitor and analyze vendor costs, lead times, delivery performance and blanket orders
- Negotiate with current and new vendors for quotations
- Coordinate with plant/ production scheduler to forecast upcoming needs
- Partners with business stakeholders to confirm business requirements for purchases adhering to procurement processes and policies
- Generate, prepare and analyze reports from JD Edwards
- Provide support for both strategic issues and supplier performance issues
- Ensure accurate and timely information is provided to both vendors and management
- Maintain inventory levels adhering to DBG’s standards and / or goals
- Work closely with vendors to develop a mutually beneficial, long-term relationship
- Have a good understanding of duties, brokerage, and logistical channels
- Monitor supplier performance to mitigate risk and resolve issues
- Manage and optimize purchased items, deliveries, and inventory
- Work with various departments, including, quality, engineering, materials, and finance
- Be discreet to ensure Company confidentiality
- Promote, maintain, and encourage a safe work environment and good housekeeping for all associates
- Other duties as assigned
- Must have 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting
- Post-secondary education relating to the automotive or manufacturing industry
- PMAC designation an asset
- Proficient in using various computer software, JD Edwards an asset
- Must have strong attention to detail
- Must have good mathematical and problem solving skills
- Willing to work occasional overtime if required
- Must have the ability to prioritize and reprioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Some Inter-city travel may be required
- Experience in negotiations with companies within the steel and metrology industry
- Knowledge of USMCA is an asset
- Work in compliance and conform to QMS, EMS and H&S standards, Policies, Objectives, Impact & Aspect and Hazard and Risks
- Adhere to Company policies and procedures and TS16949, OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001 procedures.
