Wage: $32.00/hour for 40 hours/week
This is not a bargaining unit position.

Scope
Polycultural Immigrant and Community Services is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to help individuals and communities to gain equal opportunities to become productive members of Canadian society. Our organization has a strong history of helping newcomers, youth, women, and seniors. Reporting to the Reception Center Programs Manager, the Program Coordinator, Landlords and Community Liaison develops working relationships with larger multi-unit For-Profit and Not-For-Profit Housing Providers in the Mississauga Peel/Halton region at the senior levels to help secure more housing options for refugees within the Refugees’ Reception Center through assessment, planning, facilitation, coordination, and advocacy.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Creates and maintains database of potential multi-unit For-Profit and Not-For-Profit Housing providers in the Mississauga Peel/Halton region
- Determines appropriate housing options, with consideration to location and proximity to necessary community services
- Creates partnerships with women, youth, LGBTQS+, and other shelters in the area
- Develops and maintains strategic partnerships to provide housing opportunities for refugees based on their unique needs
- Develops strategic partnerships to reduce housing application rejections; promotes living communities outside of GTA
- Negotiates competitive rental rates for refugees
- Builds database of peer partners in community to help with refugee services, such as furniture, moving, etc.
- Ensures staff access and utilization of all available resources to maximize efficiency in the provision of services to clients, including information and referral, assessment, and linkage/access to community services
- Maintains ongoing understanding of the individual needs, respecting values, preferences, beliefs, heritage, and identity
- Actively coordinates with logistics and housing coordinator to explore solutions and remove obstacles to assist clients to have permanent housing
- Conducts assessments, utilizes care planning tools, facilitates care coordination, and advocates for access to services
- Collaborates with staff to ensure wraparound services are being offered through outreach, mental health services, providing harm reduction support, and housing
- Effectively communicates with co-workers, consulting and sharing resource information and providing case coverage as required
- Maintains accurate client records, including case note documentation and progress reports
- Responsible for compiling statistical information and preparing reports for various stakeholders
- Participates in coordinated service meetings
- Fosters ongoing development and education of staff, including identifying individual staff learning needs and recommending educational learning paths in consultation with Human Resources
- Models appropriate behaviors to staff that are consistent with our Mission and Values
- Other duties as required

Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience with presentations, project management, and property management
- Knowledge of GTA and surrounding areas housing landscape and community resources
- Demonstrated ability to work with large corporate entities and not-for-profit institutions
- Demonstrated ability to partner and work effectively with all levels of staff, housing providers, families, and external agencies
- Ability to promote positive presentation strategies of advantages for landlords to want to host refugees
- Well-developed conflict resolution, mediation, and group problem-solving skills to work successfully with others to resolve contentious issues in a positive, ethical, and respectful manner within a diverse environment and with staff at all organizational levels
- Strong planning, time-management, leadership, and organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to understand and work across a wide range of cultural and political contexts
- Orientation to excellence that acknowledges and builds on the strengths of all stakeholders, including staff and our client population
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical abilities with a strong focus on driving results
- Excellent computer skills: Office 365 - MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and database
- Ability to work independently and on a flexible schedule
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle
