Personal Support Workers
to work in South Western Ontario Long-term Care

What We Offer:
  • Competitive rates and incentives – $20-$22 per hour

Location & Duration:
  • 2-month contract (November 2024-December 2024)
  • Oxford County in Southwestern Ontario, an easy commute from the Kitchener/Waterloo area.
We’re looking for PSW’s!
As a PSW you’ll be a foundational part of a highly skilled and multi-disciplinary team. You will be assisting residents in their activities of daily living by providing compassionate and skilled care.
Our Must Haves
  • Personal Support Worker Certificate from an Accredited College in Canada
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience a long-term care setting as a PSW
  • Caring and empathetic, acts always with integrity & respect
  • Responsive and accountable, with strong communication skills
  • Flexible, easily able to adapt to new and different environments
  • Strong decision-making, can make timely and effective decisions
  • Basic computer skills; experience with email correspondence, online submissions etc
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and skills of providing personal care duties
  • Experience working with geriatric residents who may be experiencing various health conditions and disabilities
  • Experience with assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Including but not limited to:
  • Bathing, toileting/ incontinence care
  • Oral/denture care
  • Feeding, or assisting with feeding/meal set up
  • Experience performing safe patient transfers, turns and repositions
  • Experience with reporting and documenting observations/concerns
  • Knowledge on how to properly don and doff personal protective equipment (PPE)
Other requirements
  • Ability to reliably commute, or plan to relocate.
  • Must be flexible to work at 4 or more LTC homes in the area.
  • Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) is considered an asset
  • Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) is considered an asset
  • Proof of current immunizations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (MMRV) proof of negative TB skin test within one (1) year
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses)
  • Current N95 Mask Fit Test Certificate
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check
Additional Assets:
  • Experience with different types of patient manual/electric lifts
  • Food handler certificate
  • Experience in providing companionship
