Shipper and Receiver

Established in 2017 with the purchase of the historic Bennett property in West Kelowna, BC, Canada, Frind Estate Winery blends agriculture with technological opportunity. Markus Frind’s family has a farming history spanning 500 years, both in Germany and northern BC. After the successful sale of plentyoffish.com, Markus is focusing his efforts on pairing technology with agriculture to produce terroir-driven British Columbia wines of exceptional quality.
The Role
The Shipper & Receiver will be responsible for ensuring accurate and seamless outgoing shipments. The Shipper & Receiver must load shipments regularly, with the capability of repetitive heavy lifting, and use any necessary equipment, e.g. lift truck, forklift, etc. Other responsibilities will include the inspection of outgoing shipments to verify contents and quality, operating the company 5 ton truck for inventory transfers throughout the Okanagan Valley, and may be required to assist in the scheduling of freight appointments. The Shipper & Receiver must understand the impact of this position to other business functions that depend on the accuracy and efficiency of outgoing items. Inventory management and vendor relations with shipping companies are essential functions for this position.
Responsibilities
· Prepare shipping dock to transfer out product
· Match product with shipping orders
· Verify shipping products' expiration codes
· Inspect product to ensure saleable condition with acceptable code dating
· Operate a Forklift or Electric Pallet Jack in a safe manner to move product that must be shipped out
· Maintain a safe work environment
· May be required to assist with scheduling freight appointments
· May lift cases of product and/or stock merchandise according to documented procedures
· Process all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking of shipped product.
· Create a daily shipment schedule.
· Oversee the secure and accurate loading of shipments.
· Track shipments and verify receipts of shipments as required.
· Manage inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
· Perform quality audits of the condition of goods for outgoing items prior to signing off.
· Report discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
· Follow current standards and procedures.
· Ensure that shipments contain proper documentation and if multiple items per shipment, ensure item lists are complete.
· Problem solve for any cases of missing documents, shipments and deliveries.
· Maintain organized work area according to policies, procedures and safety regulations.
· Make deliveries with a company 5 ton Truck as assigned.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
● High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
● Forklift certification preferred.
● 2 years experience shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations is preferred.
● Ability to lift and move heavy objects of up to 50 lbs.
● Working knowledge of safe lifting methods.
● Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
● Able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
● Basic mathematical skills.
● Valid driver's license and good driving record.
● Ability to weigh and measure items.
● Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment including forklift truck.
● Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
● Computer literacy, including working skills of Excel and e-mail.
● Attention to detail in all areas of work.
● Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
● Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
● Ability to travel across the Okanagan Valley as needed.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 to $24.00 per hour. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, education, experience, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
