JOB DESCRIPTION:
HR Project Partners is currently accepting resumes for a Swing Operator on behalf of our client, Calibre, Valentine Gold Mine. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 5 years of operating experience in a processing plant, including 2 years of operating experience in the mining industry.
Reporting to the Process Plant Operations Supervisor, the Swing Operator is responsible for operating all circuits in the Process Plant. The incumbent will perform all parameters, monitoring, and housekeeping tasks and processes for all circuits in the mill. The incumbent will also look after all lock-out activities within all units. In addition, this role must ensure work is performed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental and legislative requirements.
This position is located at the Project site, working on a 14 days in/14 days out rotation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for operating all circuits in the mill from crushing to solutions.
• Performs pre-operational checks and operates equipment according to standard operating procedures.
• Monitors equipment and processes, and conduct troubleshooting activities when problems arise, interacting with the Supervisor as required to correct.
• Performs plant housekeeping activities as required.
• Completes operator reports and ensure that equipment deficiencies and operational issues are communicated to the supervisor.
• Participates in crew safety meetings.
• Supports maintenance activities as required.
• Completes training modules, exercises and testing required.
• Ensures all circuits are operating within specified limits.
• Operates small, motorized equipment.
• Communicates with supervisor regarding all aspects of circuit operations.
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High-school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience operating all circuits in a Process Plant is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of operating experience in a processing plant, including 2 years of operating experience in the mining industry.
• Refinery and control room experience is an asset.
• Experience working in a remote industrial environment will be considered an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ATTRIBUTES:

• Ability to understand mineral processing theory and practice.
• Familiar with the safe work practices and standard operating procedures of a process plant.
• Knowledge of process plant processes and ability to operate the equipment autonomously at the completion of the training period.
• Ability to recognize hazards in an industrial workplace and understand their role in assessing and managing risk.
• Ability to apply logical thinking to solve problems and “trouble-shoot” abnormal situations to correct mechanical or process problems.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment repairs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with operations and maintenance personnel in the course of carrying out the duties.
• Proficient with operating a computer and running process plant applications.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements at remote sites.
• Knowledge of the OHS, mining, and construction regulations.
• A valid driver license and a driver’s abstract.
