Yard Technician (Swamper)

We are currently seeking a Yard Technician (Swamper) for our Supply Chain Yard Operations department.
Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta
This role supports logistics and yard operations by performing tasks such handling, moving, loading and unloading materials by hand or using material handling equipment. Using hand held devices to process stock in a safe and efficient manner according to applicable procedures, complying with defined quality standards. Employees will be required to work on-call approximately once every month, depending on business needs.
Please note: Tenaris requires all employees to pass a drug and alcohol test as well as fit test, prior to employment.
Responsibilities:
- Load, unload and move products and materials by hand or using material handling equipment
- Perform other material handling activities such as counting, sorting, packing and unpacking
- Assist truck and delivery drivers to load and unload vehicles
- Using power and manual tools, complete tasks efficiently and to quality standards
- Ensure product quality complying with defined standards and reporting deviations
- Carry out duties in an effective manner meeting productivity and efficiency standards
- Ensure proper use of the company assets, detecting and reporting malfunctioning equipment
- Attend and collaborate in training activities in order to maintain and increase the company knowledge
- Proactively suggest improvements and participate in continuous improvement activities
- Actively participate in company safety procedures and programs: correct unsafe work practices or situations; follow reporting protocols for violations; participate in the Hazard Identification process
- Perform other duties as required, including, but not limited to effective yard and warehouse clean-up, yard maintenance, administrative duties and operating company vehicle as required
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience handling tubular products preferred, but candidates with general material handling and inventory experience will be considered
- Manual labor work experience in an industrial setting
- Candidates with experience in shift and/or on call work are preferred
- Knowledge of safe equipment operation and procedures, maintenance and cleaning standards
- High School Education or equivalent is required
- Punctual, reliable, and willing to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends
- Problem solving, decision making and effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team setting
- Time management skills and the ability to record pickups and daily records
- Ability to prioritize tasks and ensure completion by deadlines
- Experience in Microsoft Office would be an asset
- Strong proven analytical and organization skills would be considered an asset
- Attention to detail is critical in the role
