The role
Rystad Energy is looking for a detail-oriented, analytical professional to join our wind research team, focusing on wind supply chain and technology development. You’ll help deliver market intelligence and analysis to a growing client base, with a key role in growing our business in China and beyond.
We’re seeking a candidate passionate about data analysis, market research, and client engagement. You’ll conduct quantitative and qualitative research, delivering insights through reports, presentations, and consultations. The role involves working closely with clients responsible for supply chain optimization, sourcing strategies, cost modeling, and technology roadmaps, with a particular focus on the impact of Chinese supply chain players globally.
As a client-facing role, you’ll also present findings at events and become a recognized industry voice. Responsibilities include market analysis, cost modeling, supply chain strategies, and forecasting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, able to work independently under tight deadlines while collaborating with the broader team.
Job responsibilities:

• Be primary responsible for our China wind research
• Enhance and expand key data related to supply and technology segments, including costs, trends, supply chain dynamics, and competitive landscape whilst ensuring data quality.
• Create supply chain cost models to estimate the capex for wind assets.
• Carry out primary and secondary research on the evolution of the Chinese wind market and of supply chain players’ business models, pricing, financial performance and technology roadmaps.
• Write insightful commentaries and reports on industry trends
• Maintain and expand our network of primary intelligence sources in the wind industry
• Assist with business development activities such as sharing market views, explaining the methodology and research processes through virtual presentations or in-person presentations at industry or Rystad Energy events
• Present the company’s view of the wind market at internal and external industry events and via webinars
• Support our external clients, consultants and business development team

Experience & Skills

• 2-10 years of relevant work experience, preferably from renewables energy research, consulting / consulting-like environment, or engineering, preferably with experience from working in or with the wind industry
• Candidates with less than 2 years work experience but with exceptional results from university and previous roles will be considered
• Knowledge and genuine interest in renewables and power, and preferably a deeper knowledge in the wind supply chain
• University degree in a data driven or energy field such as mathematics, engineering, economics or information technology
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on attitude
• Self-motivated, proactive and independent as well as a strong team player
• Outstanding ability to synthesize data and information coming from multiple sources (quantitative and qualitative)
• Desire to work with both the technical and financial aspects of the energy market
• Fluent in English and Mandarin; other languages are a plus
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Proficiency with Power Point, Excel, Power BI, SQL and Python
• Ability to present and defend market views and research at public events or client sites
• Ability to conduct interactive analysis of short-term supply and activity developments using business intelligence tools
