Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for a market-oriented P&C Treaty Underwriter at our Shanghai office.
Your Role
As a member of the P&C Treaty Greater China team, you will be responsible for the retention, development, and profitability of our P&C Treaty business in Greater China, with a specific focus on underwriting activities, as well as marketing and client service activities.

Your Key Responsibilities
From the marketing and client service perspective, you are expected to:

• Maintain a strong understanding of the primary marketplace and industry trends
• Engage in Line of Business (LOB) focused conversations with client/brokers and understand the reinsurance impact on clients’ financial results
• Proactively market and build new relationships with clients and brokers, while strengthening existing ones

From the underwriting perspective, you are expected to:

• Understand clients’ portfolios from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives and competently design reinsurance solutions that creates value for both clients and Gen Re
• Master your understanding of Gen Re’s pricing methodologies and tools, underwriting guidelines and internal wording requirements to engage in underwriting activities

Your Profile

• Degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Engineering or other major with quantitative exposure
• 5 to 7 years of working experience in P&C insurance industry, with at least 3 years in an underwriting or reinsurance related roles
• Proven quantitative and analytical skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Fluent in Chinese
• Proficient in both spoken and written English
• Willing and able to travel for business
• Able to respond to client needs while achieving underwriting objectives
