Automation Engineer

We are seeking an Automation Engineer to join our young, international team in BU Port Cranes and contribute to the development of the crane management system used to monitor fleets of various types of port cranes. In this role, you will work on software development of the system as well as customer communication and participating in new crane commissioning.

The position is hybrid remote and located in Hyvinkää or Espoo, Finland. As the role includes commissioning the system, you will have the opportunity to travel at least 80 days per year to our customer sites all around the world – e.g. from the USA to Congo to Indonesia, or everywhere inbetween.

Your key responsibilities:

• Developing and testing software used in Konecranes products.
• Participating in the commissioning phase of Crane Management System.
• Co-operation with business lines.
• Supporting sales and delivery process.
• Maintenance of delivered HMI applications.

What you should bring

You are perfect for the role if you have experience and knowledge in HMI / Web UI programming, and databases like Microsoft SQL and Postgre SQL, you are passionate about cybersecurity and problem-solving, and you are excited to engage directly with customers. You can be a fresh graduate or more experienced already, it’s the attitude that matters most.

To succeed in this position, you should have:

• M.Sc or B.Sc degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
• Ability to travel globally at short notice. The number of travel days is negotiable but 80 days/year is the minimum reasonably expected to happen.
• Deep understanding of HMI development.
• Ability to work with different types of databases: Microsoft SQL, Postgre SQL, etc.
• Good knowledge in .NET Core technologies.
• Excellent programming skills in following languages: C#, .NET, SQL, VB.Net and HTML, In Touch, Windows OS.
• Ability to successfully work on challenging programming tasks independently.
• Great communication skills and customer service attitude.
• Eagerness to learn new technologies and cultures.
• Systematic approach to problem-solving.
• Fluent English – it’s the main working language.
• Cyber Security knowledge (IEC62443) is considered a strong advantage.
