Principal Engineer, Developer Productivity

We are looking for a Principal Engineer focused on Developer Productivity to manage the suite of tools utilized by our diverse teams. This role is perfect for you if you spark energy from making developers’ everyday lives a bit easier every day. You are part of a Dev Ops & Developer Experience team, where we focus on contributing to the Dev Ops Toolchain’s Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery. To do that, we focus on automation, productization, discovery, and, of course, measuring (of everything) so we know where the next bottleneck is.
Dev Ops & Developer Experience is an enablement team and consists of roles such as Engineers, SREs, Security, and Advocates. We are here to empower continuous improvement, facilitate knowledge sharing, and find places to make others shine. This is a flagship opportunity to strive for developer happiness and productivity.
Our ideal candidate will listen to and discuss with developers how to manage the roadmaps of our chosen products, advocate for their use, and make onboarding safe and effortless. You will work with other engineers on the same team and with all engineers on all other teams. The impact of your work is only limited by human potential.
After finding areas for improvement, you design, develop, and operate productized, easy-to-use, reusable, and extensible solutions. These solutions help others in solving their primary problems at scale.

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a clear vision and strategy for tooling required in CI/CD pipeline and delivery. Regularly interact with other developer teams to cultivate new ideas and gather requirements.
- Contribute hands-on to the development, support, and overseeing of contributed chances.
- Manage external connections when evaluating new tools and platforms.
- Drive data-driven decisions to enhance the developer experience and implement proactive changes impacting the entire organization.
- Design, develop, and automate the creation of internal dashboards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience advocating for best practices and prioritizing developers as your first-level customers.
- Strategic and analytical abilities to lead in choosing the right tools in an already existing landscape and deprecating and replacing the ones that have become obsolete.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to advertise our offering back to our developers and cultivate a deep understanding of how our decisions impact our developers and other systems.
You should also have
- Experience working with native cloud environments.
- Have worked with multiple version control systems in your career, such as Git Lab or Git Hub.
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn and adapt to, the most widely used programming languages, such as Type Script, Python, and Go, and tools and frameworks, such as Terraform and AWS CDK.
- Product Mindset and knowing why it is at the core of our developers' offerings.
- Opinion about Internal Developer Portals: Know what problems they solve and why.
