Role details: Senior Dev Ops Engineer

Job content & technical environment

In this role, you'll immerse yourself in a dynamic technical environment, primarily focusing on AWS to implement and manage our cloud-based systems. Your expertise will ensure the high availability and reliability of our services, leveraging AWS's robust suite of tools.
You'll design and optimize Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Bitbucket Pipelines to streamline development and deployment processes. Infrastructure as Code (Ia C) is a cornerstone of our approach, and you'll utilize tools like the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) to manage and automate infrastructure provisioning.
Monitoring system performance is critical; you'll implement and manage advanced monitoring solutions to ensure seamless operations and address any alerts promptly. Your day will also involve collaborating with Dev Ops and product teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize systems, and lead incident response efforts. With a robust understanding of Node.js, you'll have the opportunity to enhance our technical stack and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality solutions.
Regular interactions with cross-functional teams will keep you engaged and aligned with ongoing and upcoming projects.

What success looks like during your first 6 months in the role

Your journey begins with getting familiar with our infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, and supporting daily operations within the first 1-2 months. By 3-4 months, you'll be proposing enhancements for scalability, security, and performance. In 5-6 months, you'll lead pivotal initiatives, such as refining disaster recovery plans and optimizing monitoring systems.

Your closest colleagues

You'll work closely with our existing Dev Ops engineer, and regularly engage with product teams. Your role will require clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth execution of projects.

Goals and metrics

Your success will be measured by maintaining system uptime, improving deployment speeds, and achieving project milestones efficiently. Key performance indicators will include timely project delivery, and the successful implementation of security practices.
