Do you have the drive and desire to make success within Sandvik? At Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions and Division Underground Drilling, we’re now looking for an innovative, technology and business-oriented Vice President for R&D and Product Management to join us.

The Underground Drilling Division is a market leader in providing industry-leading drilling solutions for our customers in the underground mining and tunneling industries. We work in close co-operation with the sales areas within the Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions Business Area, to provide the best possible service to our customers. We have strong customer focus and safety as core values. Our operations are located in Tampere (Finland), Lyon (France), Winnipeg (Canada), Jiading (China), and Pune (India).
Your mission
In this position, your key mission is to define and size market segments for the product line, develop offering strategy and roadmaps, collect customer needs and introduce new products to improve our offering. You do this by paying close attention to modular product architecture and common ways of working between our R&D and product management teams in various production units. Your target is to grow our New Sales Ratio and achieve divisional growth and profitability ambitions for our products.

Identification, development, and evaluation of new product ideas are an important part of your mission, as well as enhancements to existing product portfolios or strategic product portfolio extensions. You and your team are the key drivers in leading the important industry shifts towards increased automation, electrification, and digitalization You sponsor, set priorities, plan and track all phases of the product life cycles – from inception to introduction into the marketplace.
To ensure maximum quality and efficiency, you oversee our product development processes, such as New Product Development (NPD), Current Product Engineering (CPE) and Module and Systems Development (MSD). As you own the profitability of the products, you develop and implement plans to increase profitability and provide strategic oversight of all portfolios within the product line.
This is a global role based in Tampere, Finland and you’re reporting to the President of Underground Drilling Division. You’re a member of the Underground Drilling Division management team.
Your profile
You’re a senior leader with extensive 10+ years managerial experience in product development and / or product line management. Your background includes managing large product lines or product development organizations, with a track record of bringing spectacular new products to market to support business objectives. Previous experience in the technology areas of automation, electrification or digitalization, is also required. Knowledge and experience of mining and underground drilling applications and technologies is considered an advantage. You can manage projects on both time and quality, and you’re experienced in change management. This job requires fluent English language skills.
