Hourly Salary: $25 - $29 an hour (depending on mental health/ behavioral experience)

Spark provides school and community-based empowerment programs, workshops, and mentorship opportunities to youth from elementary through middle school. The “Spark 2
Empower” program is a school-based program that supports youth from 3rd to 6th grade and provides them with the opportunity to:
Spark is looking for inspiring people who want to make a difference in the lives of children. Candidates will be co-facilitating in an after-school program geared to empowering elementary students in Oakland schools.
The “Spark 2 Empower” program focuses on proactive and preventative strategies that are geared towards supporting youth that may display skill deficits in the areas of social and emotional development, self-esteem, and confidence.

Qualifications
- Required Associates or Bachelors degree in: psychology, sociology, child development, human behavior, health & wellness or applied behavior analysis or related field.
- Required a minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience working with children
- Driver’s License & car insurance
- Clean driving record
- First Aid Certification (preferred)
- CPR Certification (preferred)
- Must pass background check and live scan/fingerprinting
- Must have proof of current TB test (within last 2 years)
- Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)

- Connect with their peers and form bonds
- Connect with mentors (middle school and high schoolers)
- Visit college campuses and meet and interview college students
- Explore career options and meet women of various professional backgrounds
- Paid training (minimum wage per hour for training, full pay rate begins at time of service)
Spark is looking for inspiring people who want to make a difference in the lives of children. Candidates will be co-facilitating in an after-school program geared to empowering elementary students in Oakland schools.
The “Spark 2 Empower” program focuses on proactive and preventative strategies that are geared towards supporting youth that may display skill deficits in the areas of social and emotional development, self-esteem, and confidence.
- Each session is 1-hour in duration and the ratio of support is 2 adults to 20 students per cohort.
- Time commitment 15 weeks
- Facilitators will present the Spark curriculum for each cohort, connect with parents on a weekly basis to confirm attendance and take data to monitor the progress of participants.
- Facilitators will attend weekly staff meetings, trainings and team prep sessions (virtually and/or in-person.)
- Attend all in-person Spark trainings (weekends) and meetings (weekdays)
- Report weekly to Spark Directors and Spark 2 Empower management team
- Present provided curriculum at each session in an engaging, FUN and supportive manner
- Implementing behavior management utilizing applied behavior analysis protocols and methodologies
- Facilitate engagement between students with the various programs and activities
- Provide guidance and social emotional support to address possible conflicts
- Supervise and ensure the overall safety of every participant in the program
- Prioritize parent relations: to include weekly check-ins and conduct parent and participant surveys as needed
- Manage Spark materials, including snacks, reinforcers, activities etc.
- Set up and clean up designated program areas before and after sessions
- Other tasks as directed
Skills:
- Professional and strong work ethic
- Dependable and punctual is a must
- Passionate, engaging and enthusiastic
- Ability to understand and meet student needs
- Foundational behavioral skills (i.e. positive reinforcement, modeling and shaping behavior and teaching replacement skills/ behaviors)
- Cultural competence in working with children of various backgrounds
- Teaching experience (preferred)
- Ability to stand and circulate for entire group sessions
- Ability to communicate effectively to a diverse group of students
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
- Ability to manage mild to moderate behavioral challenges
- Ability to communicate professionally with parents, school personnel and community members
- Ability and willingness to travel between school locations for Spark sessions
- Must have a computer and reliable wi-fi (for virtual trainings/meetings.)
- This is a seasonal position
- Days and hours of work: Monday through Friday after-school between 1:30pm and
- Training hours will be held in the evenings or a designated weekend (as needed)
- This position requires travel to school programs (personal transportation is required for punctual arrival to sessions.)
