We are currently seeking a talented and detail-oriented Accountant to join us in supporting our accounting processes and reporting for an IPO. As an integral member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with local and international GAAP, as well as maintaining the accuracy of our financial reports. In addition to this, you will be responsible for timely recording and verification of entries, efficiency improvement initiatives, audit support, VAT declarations, and providing assistance with cross-functional projects. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Blacklane is a scale-up started in 2011, founded by Jens Wohltorf and Frank Steuer who wanted to create the first global chauffeur service. We started by filling chauffeurs’ ‘empty leg’ journeys and have grown with our partners to over €100 million in annual revenue (pre-pandemic). Backed by Daimler and other investors in Germany, Japan, Switzerland, and the UAE, we’re now a trusted brand within corporate travel.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support accounting reporting for IPO preparation.
- Support accounting processes and transcontinental reporting in compliance with local and international GAAP/IFRS.
- Maintain accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, including data completeness and transaction accuracy.
- Assist in controlling expenses within the P2P (Procure-to-Pay) process.
- Manage Accounts Payable and General Ledger (GL) expenses.
- Accruals management and control
- Carry out effectively the processes to record, validate, and report accounting figures within one's specific area of responsibility.
- Assist in VAT declarations and compliance with external tax advisors..
- Record, validate, and report accounting figures within designated areas of responsibility.
- Provide optional support for payroll accounting.
- Assist in establishing and enforcing accounting methods, policies, and principles.
- Independently accomplish tasks and seek improvement opportunities proactively.
- Drive efficiency by digitizing and simplifying operations and processes.
- Support annual audits and ensure audit readiness and compliance.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects across various departments.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Several years of professional experience in Accounting, preferably in a Tech or fast-growing company
- Proficient in German (HGB), with a preference for understanding international Accounting (IFRS)
- Strong organizational skills to manage priorities and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills for teamwork
- Quick adaptation to new tools, technologies, or systems introduced in the workplace
- Ability to prioritize tasks, adjust plans based on changing priorities, and understand task dependencies
- Results-oriented approach to collaborative work
- Good knowledge of Accounting systems Datev (Quickbooks, Xero, Adaptive or comparable are a plus )
- Self-motivated to address challenges and enhance business operations continuously
- Excellent MS Office skills, particularly in Excel
- Fluent in English with a B1/B2 proficiency level in German
