About the Position

• Plan and deliver functions and events for the Ambassador, such as formal breakfasts, lunches, dinners, receptions, and other diplomatic events, in coordination with Australian embassy staff where required. These may be at the Official Residence in Grunewald or at the Embassy in Mitte;
• Plan and prepare high-quality meals for the Ambassador, their family and guests, ensuring adherence to dietary preferences and restrictions;
• Shop for all goods required to deliver the above, including seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients emphasizing creativity, sustainability and quality;
• Manage the budget, expenses, and inventory, ensuring cost-effective procurement and expense tracking;
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-equipped kitchen, adhering to food safety standards and regulations;
• Work collegiately with the Ambassador’s housekeeper and house manager to ensure the effective management of events at the Residence;
• Manage wine cellar and maintain a record of all inventory;
• Provide suggestions to continuously improve the culinary operations and support to the Ambassador;
• Uphold professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in all interactions and responsibilities;
• Other duties as directed.

General Requirements

• Applicants must hold a valid EU work permit
• A clean drivers licence which is valid for Germany is desirable
