The impact you will make
As a Control engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and realization of our state-of-the-art high-power laser. This new facility aims to demonstrate the unique features of our laser-driven fusion concept, marking significant strides toward fusion energy generation.
More specifically, you will be:
Part of a dynamic team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the control systems that ensure precise operation and safety of the facility
Responsible for developing control algorithms and strategies to regulate the laser’s performance, integrating these controls with hardware and software components
Working closely with other engineering teams to ensure that control systems are seamlessly integrated into the overall system architecture and our 2 cutting-edge laser systems
Managing the setup, calibration, and tuning of control systems is a key part of your role, as well as developing and conducting rigorous testing to validate control system performance.
Troubleshooting and resolving any control-related issues that arise, ensuring system stability and reliability
Maintain detailed documentation of control system designs, configurations, and modifications, and stay updated with the latest advancements in control technologies to implement continuous improvements
This role is primarily based in Munich, with occasional travel to research facilities worldwide.
What you bring
Completed a degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field
5+ years' experience as a controls engineer on complex electro-mechanical systems
Strong background in control system architecture
Experience with enclosure design compliant with NFPA79/NEC/UL508A or similar standards
Ability to program and troubleshoot automation controllers in all IEC 61131-3 designated languages strongly desired
Proficiency in developing complex and reliable control safety systems for high-volume manufacturing equipment (Compliant with ANSI/OSHA standards)
Motivation to work in an environment where creative, proactive problem-solving is required with a wide range of stakeholders
Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English
