SUMMARY:
The individual will be in charge of expanding the business through the improvement of our Distribution consumer experience working with different functions. This includes managing our current and Future Full European Transportation network with Freight and Carrier Partners in Germany, UK and CZ as well as transportation to all our markets that we serve in our Full Sales Channel Environment, until the development and transition of our Omni Channel capabilities. She or he will support the relationship with major operations partners, as well as OPEX budgets, and will run a small operations team in-house; with the expectation to constantly challenge the status quo and optimize.
She or he must be comfortable with working in a very cross-functional environment, working closely with different European and Global teams, especially where it comes to technology and Reporting. She or he must have a getting things done mentality, and a demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate, communicate, build effective partnerships across the organization, and influence others.
This role will lead Transportation Management Services for our Total Europe Region for all modes of outbound transportation for Levi internal & external customer inclusive of Distributors, Strategic Accounts, Regional Wholesale, Digital, Distributors (EU) and DTC store and ecommerce. As a Director of Transportation focusing on outbound flows, this role will oversee the activities to achieve strategic goals, quality, cost, and service.
Role will be responsible for delegating tasks and leading the execution of the overall Transport department and Customer Experience goals. The Director is responsible for effectively communicating cross-functionally to maintain the most productive and efficient workflow for the transportation function. This involves driving all financial metrics while ensuring all service commitments are maintain for all business channels. The leader drives performance and accountability while enforcing Levi’s Core Competencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following):
Organizational Impact: Responsible for a flawless transition and execution of the fulfillment of Omni Channel orders from order on dock until delivery, including returns.
  • Continuously monitoring if the operational execution meets the agreed Strategy and service levels required for our DTC First principles. Per service type, country, and channel you are up to date with the latest status, performance, and action.
  • Work cross-functionally with your stakeholders, including DTC, e Com, Wholesale, Customer Service, Distribution Centre (DC), Transportation and IT to identify process inefficiencies and suggests improvements or enhancements. Create and drive strategic and tactical plans to (re)solve those in a timely manner.
  • Interface between the commercial and planning teams and the DC Director to communicate business decisions and their consequences, e.g., forecasting, (in)active products, promotions, and campaigns periods.
  • Consistent reporting of the operational performance (scorecards) that drive the correct actions and follow up, with specific attention on OTIF, delivery flaws and return execution.
  • Aid in the strategic development/improvement of procedures, (ad hoc) reports & processes
  • Drive transportation alignment Across all sales channels with cross-functional partners on strategic initiatives aligned with the AOP and LRP and Commercial expansion plans. Collaborate with and provide decisive point of view with partners internally and externally.
  • Demonstrate a consumer first mind-set to implement and drive relevant strategies to improve operational efficiencies together and service to accounts.
  • Identifies internal processes and procedures within transportation to utilize Continuous Improvement Tools and Techniques to reach the strategic objectives of the customer.
  • Implement transport strategies to meet Levi goals and customer expectations.
  • Ensure that the department performance goals are set and achieved, through the proper execution
  • Collaborates with cross-functional departments while balancing workflow. Administer observations on teammates & transport partners to drive performance improvement, training, and coaching.
  • Communicates department vision & objectives while partnering with cross functional teammates
  • Experienced in developing reports, analyzing data & providing high level recaps for both internal & external communication.
  • Active participant in regularly scheduled internal touchpoints – Ops Call, Accountability, Staff, HR, Key Program tracking/etc.
  • Recognizes the potential impact of internal & external challenges on future state of the business unit and develops action plans to meet these challenges.
  • Build & Drive relationships with full European scope with transport providers that enable Levi to meet overall department and company “Five Pocket Plan” goals.
  • Create transport solutions for all cross functional channel or customers that meet customer requirements and expectations while balancing cost.
Process Management:
  • Competency in process management is required to strategize and build new ways of working and operationalizing systems to meet service and customer requirements (ie: B2B, B2C, CRM tools, reporting dashboards)
  • Define transport strategies for region based on customer requirements, service and ROI.
  • Partner with D&L teammates and cross functional partners to negotiate any new account fulfillment strategy that requires account buy in and execution. Define success measures and benefit analysis.
Communication:
  • Functions as a ‘bridge-building’ between teams outside Distribution and Logistics and Levi’s, by inclusion of the right stakeholders, constructive communication to hit team and regional goals. And building strong relationships.
  • High level of cross functional collaboration, both written and verbal, with operational and key stakeholders, both internal and external. Frequency can range from daily to monthly deliverables.
  • Able to convey the company and department’s strategy across direct reports and external partners.

Education And / Or Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years +’ experience in outbound transportation management (Parcel, FTL, Groupage, etc.).
  • 5 years +’ experience in people management
  • Experience managing OPEX budget and partners.
  • A strong affinity with data and numbers
  • Proven track record in problem solving and process improvements including measurable outcomes.
  • Hands on experience with Microsoft Office Suite, BI reporting. Experience with SAP will be considered as an advantage.
  • Ability to read and apply operational metrics with the right balance between analytical and process understanding skills.
  • Able to level the communication, messaging, and action driven conclusions to the audience it is shared with.
  • Fluent in English. Other European languages is added value.
