Role Overview :

The Payment Team is a platform team at the core of Jimdo and plays a key role in many of the product and engineering initiatives across Jimdo. You’ll get an opportunity to join an engaged team focused on robust and long-lasting solutions. You’ll be part of a journey towards improving our existing systems with a focus on feature completeness and accessibility for the many stakeholders the team interfaces with.
The team owns and works on our in-house subscription billing system and checkout-adjacent, backend-focused projects such as product catalog, invoicing, payment processing, or dunning.

What you’ll be doing:

• Design, develop, and optimize API services with a keen focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
  
• Maintain payment, billing, invoicing, catalog, and other associated services.
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, understanding requirements and ensuring that the backend solutions integrate seamlessly with other components.
  
• Uphold a high standard of code quality through code reviews, testing, and adherence to best practices.
  
• Diagnose and resolve backend issues, aiming for minimal downtime and optimum performance.
  
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in backend development.
  
• Provide insights and feedback to the Expert Engineer and other stakeholders, ensuring the technical feasibility and timeline of backend solutions.
  

What you bring to the table:

• A minimum of 4 years experience building web applications and have spent the past 3 years into a backend focus role.
  
• Proficiency in Kotlin. Experience working with modern frontend technologies or willing to become a full-stack developer.
  
• Familiarity with frontend technologies, specifically Java Script, React or Type Script.
  
• You have been working in different parts of the stack and understand how to improve the architecture of a service.
  
• Proven experience in building and running production systems using CI/CD and solving issues that pop up using monitoring tools.
  
• You are dedicated to maintaining high standards of quality, using a strong toolkit to ensure that everything is thoroughly tested and fully functional before it reaches release.
  
• You place a strong emphasis on understanding domain knowledge and stakeholder priorities, incorporating them into your development process while proposing creative and effective solutions.
  
• You thrive in a collaborative, feedback-driven environment, and actively contribute to knowledge sharing and team growth.
