Head of Communications

Writing and Communication:
- Manage, direct and measure the brand, voice and messaging of the Foundation by producing strategic, clear, concise and engaging written communications and other media using evidence-based best practices.
- Edit and oversee day-to-day communications to ensure strategic, clear, concise and engaging written communications and other media are produced, including:
- Written, video and audio content delivered via traditional and social media;
- The design, content, and maintenance of the Foundation’s website and visual identity in decks, signs, etc.;
- The expansion of the organization’s social media presence, including by outreach to influencers and thought leaders;
- Regular communications such as our briefing, funder updates, Advisor Network update; and
- Coordination of media, social media calendar and website update calendar.
- Develop relationships with key journalists, editors and producers.
- Draft and approve press releases, informational brochures, and other short-form publications.
- Strengthen and promote the Apolitical Foundation and its projects and initiatives by contributing to and driving forward a dynamic communications strategy (in partnership with the CEO, Head of Partnerships and Content, CSO, COO).
- Develop, execute and measure initiatives to grow our reach in quantity and also in relation to quality and relevance of audiences.
- Provide communications strategy and execution support across the team and across projects.
- Be responsible for all short form and day to day communications of the Foundation so that they are aligned and mindful of potential political risks and opportunities.
- Manage the collection of communications success data and report this against set targets.
- Be a key liaison with partner communications and events leads to co-create event communications, design and promotions.
- Manage a Communications Coordinator.
- Be available to travel and sometimes work outside standard work hours in order to complete assignments ahead of deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a clear, concise and engaging style.
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to see the "big picture" while managing day-to-day communications activities.
- Robust understanding of politics and democracy, with the ability to stay ahead of trends and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Proven record of building and maintaining relationships with journalists and partners.
- Leadership skills with the capacity to foster a collaborative and results- and data-driven working environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Networking aptitude.
- Attention to detail.
- Good judgment and sensitivities when communicating with different cultures.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Notion, Wix and Canva, with a focus on presentation and data analysis tools.

- Generous leave entitlements - statutory leave, plus a week in summer and a week over Christmas, your birthday and last Friday of every month.
- Hybrid working conditions, with access to a beautiful office space in the middle of Berlin.
- Salary between €59,000-68,000 per year.
