Master Thesis: Development of an App for Bluetooth Portable Reader Connectivity for Point-of-Care Multitarget Biosensing

At the Institute of Bioelectronics (IBI-3) at Forschungszentrum Jülich, physicists, chemists, biologists and engineers work together to investigate the scientific principles of the functional connection between biological and electronic components. This collaboration has led to the development of platforms for microfluidics, micro- and nano-patterning, neural implants, and electronic biosensors. These latter technologies are being developed not only to understand biological processes, but also to pave the way for their application in sensing and point-of-care diagnostics.
Your Job:
  • Develop an Android app that can process data from a multitarget portable measuring device via bluetooth and display the result(s)
  • Develop a Windows software to perform measurements and scientific analysis in the lab
  • Support simultaneous measurements with multiple measuring devices
  • Implement machine learning algorithms for data pattern recognition of the measurements
  • Translate machine learning patterns into lightweight formulas that can be processed by microcontrollers
    • Support the biosensor team in the general development of tools and data analysis algorithm ideas

Your Profile:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in the field of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, IT, or similar
  • Previous experience in app development
  • Basic knowledge of electronics is an advantage
  • Willingness to familiarize yourself with new concepts
  • Well-structured and systematic research approach
  • Interest in integrating your knowledge into the biosensors research area
  • High degree of independence and motivation
  • Very reliable and conscientious working style
