The Department of Cardiology and Angiology at the University Heart Center Freiburg-Bad Krozingen offers a

Ph D position in Cardiovascular Immuno-Imaging (m/f/d)

The research group led by Dr. Alexander Maier investigates cutting-edge translational immuno-imaging techniques in the cardiovascular field. The group develops and validates new in vivo readouts to track inflammatory cells following cardiac events, exploring their potential as a potential prognostic marker for cardiac outcomes, as well as assessing the efficacy of immune-modulating compounds.

This Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung funded position is embedded in the excellent research environment of the University Heart Center Freiburg-Bad Krozingen. The multidisciplinary project will be conducted by a consortium of medical physicists, nuclear medicine experts and cardiologists. The position offers the opportunity to work on translational research projects at the interface of bench-to-bedside science, within a highly innovative environment.

What you bring:

an excellent Master degree in Biology, Molecular Medicine or related field
Experience with animal research is recommended
Enthusiasm for science and the ambition to become an expert in your research field
strong organization skills and the ability to work independently
Motivation and ability to mentor students and contribute to other projects within our team
good communication skills in both German and English

The job offer is an initial 2 year contract. The position is to be filled at 65%.

Your salary (TV-L E13) is part of a Else Kröner-Fresenius Stiftung grant, which aims to investigate the immune response in heart failure and atherosclerosis using various translational imaging approaches.
