The ILS Research group “Mobilities and Space” is looking for you (m/f/d) as Research Associate to join us from 1 February 2025 (subject to approval of the funding) in the „Share4Equity“ (DUT Call 2024 - 15-minute City) project. The position has a scope of up to 30 hours per week and is limited until 31 December 2027. The option of a doctorate is given. The remuneration is based on pay group 13 of the TV-L. Die ILS Research g Gmb H ist ein außeruniversitäres Stadtforschungsinstitut mit Sitz in Dortmund, das die Dynamik und Vielgestaltigkeit des urbanen Wandels international vergleichend untersucht, um neue Erkenntnisse über die Prozesse und Strukturen räumlicher Entwicklung in sozialer, demographischer und baulicher Hinsicht zu gewinnen. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die Verzahnung von exzellenter Grundlagenforschung und einer regional ausgerichteten Anwendungsforschung. Die ILS Research g Gmb H ist ein Tochterinstitut des ILS – Institut für Landes- und Stadtentwicklungsforschung g Gmb H, mit dem sie räumlich und personell eng zusammenarbeitet.
Das Projekt Share4Equity zielt darauf ab, den aktuellen und potenziellen Beitrag von mobilitätsbezogenen Sharing-Angeboten zu untersuchen, um die Ideen einer verbesserten Mobilitätsgerechtigkeit (transport equity/mobility justice) und der 15-Minuten-Stadt zu verwirklichen. Mobilitätsgerechtigkeit steht im Fokus u.a. bei international vergleichenden Analysen der Verteilung von mobilitätsbezogenen Sharing-Angeboten und bei der Frage, wie die Abhängigkeit vom Auto reduziert werden kann. Das transnationale Forschungsprojekt arbeitet mit Partnern aus den vier europäischen Ländern Deutschland, Schweden, Italien und Polen sowie aus Kanada zusammen.
Aufgabenbeschreibung:

• Aufarbeitung des Forschungsstandes zu Mobilitätsgerechtigkeit sowie zur Planungspraxis bzgl. der Einführung von mobilitätsbezogenen Sharing-Angeboten (u.a. räumliche Verteilung, Rechtsrahmen, Governance, best/ worst practices)
• GIS-basierte räumliche Modellierung der aktuellen Verteilung von mobilitätsbezogenen Sharing-Angeboten in ausgewählten Städten
• Detaillierte Analyse der Angebotsverteilung mittels bivariater und multivariater Analysen in Bezug zu sozio-räumlichen Variablen
• Konzeption und Durchführung deutschsprachiger Haushaltsbefragungen und Backcasting-Workshops mit lokalen Akteuren in Düsseldorf sowie Vernetzungsaktivitäten
• Präsentationen von (Zwischen-)Ergebnissen auf Workshops und internationalen/ nationalen Konferenzen
• Veröffentlichung von Forschungsergebnissen in wissenschaftlichen und transferorientierten Publikationen
• Dokumentation von Workshops und weitere unterstützende Aufgaben innerhalb des Projekts in enger Zusammenarbeit mit internationalen Projektpartnern sowie Teilnahme an Projekttreffen im Ausland

Anforderungsprofil:

• überdurchschnittlich abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium in Planungswissenschaften, Verkehrsplanung, Geografie, Soziologie oder anderen interdisziplinären Studienrichtungen
• sehr gute Kenntnisse in GIS (Arc GIS Pro, QGIS), räumlicher Modellierung und Verkehrsforschung
• sehr gute methodische Fähigkeiten im Bereich quantitativer Forschung (Statistiksoftware R, SPSS)
• Erfahrung in der Arbeit mit qualitativen und transdisziplinären Forschungsmethoden und in internationalen Projekten
• kommunikative Kompetenz und Begabung für wissenschaftliches Schreiben und vernetztes Denken, Freude am interdisziplinären Arbeiten
• Teamfähigkeit, Eigeninitiative, Kreativität, Zuverlässigkeit
• Bereitschaft zu Reisen innerhalb Europas und nach Kanada
• fachkundige Englischkenntnisse im mündlichen und schriftlichen Gebrauch

Job Description:
The Share4Equity project aims to explore the current and potential contribution of shared mobility services to help realise the ideas of equitable transport, mobility justice and the 15-minute City. Transport justice is one means of examining how opportunities for shared mobility are distributed across society and how to reduce car-dependency. This comparative transnational research project is working with partners from the four European countries Germany, Sweden, Italy, and Poland and from Canada.

• Literature review on the latest work on transport justice and the distribution, regulatory framework, and decision-making process of good and bad practices of shared mobility services
• GIS-based spatial modelling of the current distribution of shared mobility services in selected cities
• detailed analysis of the supply distribution of shared mobility services using bivariate and multivariate analysis of socio-spatial variables
• Design and implementation of a household survey and back casting workshops in German language in the city of Dusseldorf communicating with local stakeholders as well as networking activities
• Presentations of (interim) results at workshops and international/ national conferences
• Publication of research results in scientific and transfer-oriented output material
• Documentation of workshops and other supporting tasks within the project activities in close collaboration with international project partners and attendance at project meetings abroad

Requirement profile:

• above-average university degree in planning sciences, landscape planning, geography, agricultural sciences or sociology or other interdisciplinary fields of study
• very good technical knowledge in the field of green/blue infrastructure and health research and very good methodological skills – e.g. in the field of quantitative and qualitative social research
• Experience in working on tasks defined by work packages and projects in an international context
• communicative competence and aptitude for scientific writing and networked thinking, enjoyment of interdisciplinary work
• Ability to work in a team, initiative, creativity, reliability
• Willingness to travel within Europe and to Canada
• Expert knowledge of the German and English language in oral and written use
