Overall Purpose of The Job
Ensures that the global cadet programme and officers’ progression from the cadet programme strategy is developed, executed, and monitored efficiently in line with the Groups requirement.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- In-charge of the cadet administration worldwide from identifying annual intake requirement, recruitment, planning of vessel and career progression to senior officer level.
- Works with Crew Management Partners closely to increase the number of cadet berths
- Closely monitor cadet’s performance during education and training from entering into the TSM Cadet training program until signing-on as an officer.
- Keep updates on IMO/STCW requirements on which schools and training establishments meet national, Flag State and STCW standards.
- Prepare and maintain training presentations, newsletters, matrix, calendar and monthly reports in line with internal and external requirements
- Visit colleges and universities where TSM cadets were enrolled.
- Plan and coordinate In-house training of cadets.
- Coordinate all external training required for cadets to pass the board examination for obtaining their COC.
- Make sure all information regarding progress and training of cadets are recorded in the Crew Management system and keep updated.
- Create and send progress reports to principals of the cadet’s performance and status as and when required
- In-close cooperation with Crewing department and Crewing agents worldwide, plan the
- Keep track of cadets’ rotation plan onboard and onshore making sure available period onboard are fully utilized.
- Maintains cadet pools for specific clients, where practicable
- Perform other tasks related to recruitment and cadet training or other task assigned.
- Maintains cadet retention and promotion rate reports and takes proper actions for improvement.
- Maintain financial overview – actual expenses vs budget
- Prepare Monthly Training report for cadet matters into the overall Culture and Competence Monthly reports
- Mentors/Coaches global Cadet management team on proper interaction with cadets as part of seafarer development
- Any other task as per Global Director, Culture & Competence
