EL Data & Community Specialist - District

We are looking for an EL Data and Community Specialist who will positively impact student success by collaborating with teachers and district staff to identify EL students as well as effectively support those working to ensure accuracy of data and reports. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all EL students are reported for state and federal accountability. This position requires assisting in the collective efforts to provide a culturally responsive learning environment where all students can thrive. As a member of the district LAP team, there will be multiple opportunities to grow in this role and support the district’s strategic plan.
The following outlines this position’s core duties, responsibilities, and sample daily overview.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Track and analyze district EL data
- Complete the annual Language Minority Report and other required reports (monitor LAP data compliance)
- Assist in maintaining a timely Data Dashboard and compliance documents that aligns with district, state, and federal requirements
- Work with staff to provide training on technology used to track and monitor English learners (specialty software management)
- Point of contact for LAP teachers to solve Skyward/ILP/questions to alleviate their clerical duties.
- Other duties as assigned
On a regular day, as the EL Data & Community Specialist, one might:
- Update the LAP Dashboard and compliance documents and update staff on current and new guidance from Indiana Department of Education - English Learners Department
- Analyze and correct EL student data for errors and conflicts
- Coordinate with the assessment and IT teams regarding systems and procedures to streamline data collection and reporting
- Collaborate with building and district staff to address concerns and celebrate successes
- Develop training opportunities for EL Teachers and other district staff on topics related to EL compliance
- Partner with LAP staff to Identify ways to enhance culture and belonging for students, staff, and families
- Working knowledge of the Indiana EL data reporting requirements
- Clear written and verbal communication and training with a diverse staff
- Effective analysis of student data for accurate and timely reporting to district staff and the Indiana Department of Education - English Learner Department
- Construct training materials for teachers to perform compliance tasks
