The Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a Part-time House Manager (HM) to manage the Volunteer Usher Corps and serve a leading role in ensuring that patrons have a positive experience while visiting the Center and the Great American Songbook Foundation. The HM is responsible for effective patron management during events at campus venues (The Palladium, The Tarkington, The Studio Theater) and will serve as the front of house representative during an emergency. The HM must be willing and prepared to approach the public with a positive attitude and readiness to solve problems quickly and comprehensively.

Essential Functions

Serve as HM for assigned events, fulfilling the following duties:
- Serve as primary liaison between front and back of house staff.
- Coordinate with Event, Facilities and Security teams to ensure venues are ready and safe prior to patron entry and after patron exit.
- Assign volunteers to event roles, such as ticket scanning, program distribution, seating and wayfinding.
- Address and resolve patron issues including, but not limited to, seating problems, late arrivals, camera/video use, etc.
- Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate with Security Team in notifying emergency services; oversee patron management and complete incident report.
- Enter time worked in Paylocity.
- Enter post-production data (hours, ticket counts, etc.) into Venue Ops.

Required Education and Experience
1. Minimum two years event and volunteer management experience
2. High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in a performing arts, theatrical or public assembly facility is preferred.
3. CPR/First Aid/AED Training (provided by employer)
Supervisory Responsibility
This position supervises volunteer ushers assigned to events.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional venue environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, copiers, hand-held radio and other equipment. House managers are required to dress appropriately for the environment, wearing business attire.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here represent those needed to perform the essential functions of this job.
1. Ability to stand for several hours prior, during and after the performances
2. Ability to climb stairs
3. Strong sensory skills, such as strong eyesight, hearing and dexterity, especially in low-light situations
4. Ability to bend, push, lift, carry, pull and move up to 50 pounds
5. Ability to speak and listen clearly, especially via hand-held radio
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is an occasional, part-time, non-exempt position that requires working nights, weekends, some weekdays, and some holidays. Flexibility is required. Approximately 25 hours per week, in season.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
