Position Brand Description:

The operator is responsible for running a partially automated process in order to manufacture material. In addition to running the manufacturing process, other activities include collecting and using data from various computer systems for data analysis and documentation. The area is regulated by quality, safety and environmental guidelines; therefore compliance with operating procedures is required.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

• Provide hands-on execution of the defined project or experiment in a non-GMP pilot plant environment. This includes but is not limited to equipment set-up, process flow identification, and procuring raw materials.
• Escalate process issues as they arise.
• Collect data for pilot plant projects.
• Maintain complete and thorough notebook and data binder documentation; comply with Good Documentation practices for all documentation generated during projects.
• Support capital purchase projects for the pilot plant.
• Support pilot plant improvements for continued enhancement of the pilot plant facility.
• Maintain a safe operations environment and adhere to applicable safety policies and PPE requirements.
• Support lab-scale experiments, including experiment preparation, data analysis, and verification.

Basic Requirements:

• Technically inquisitive, attentive to detail and must exhibit good problem solving skills.
• Have good mechanical aptitude.
• Have a high learning agility.
• Able to work effectively in an integrated team environment, but also be able to work independently, multitask, and be able to prioritize activities.
• Have proficient computer aptitude to learn the various systems needed to support the pilot plant activities.

Additional Preferences:

• Some previous operations or technician experience, ideally with protein manufacturing or process development preferred but not required.
• Exhibit flexibility and the ability to positively work with others.
• Exhibit leadership abilities by being able to communicate effectively, partner with others and collaborate with peers in a diverse environment.
• Knowledge of basic statistics and be proficient with the use of Excel, Word, Visio, and Power Point.

Education Requirements:
High school diploma

Other Information:

• Temperature extremes may be encountered included work in freezers and chill rooms.
• May work with potentially hazardous and/or biologically active materials.
• Some area of production or the pilot plant may involve exposure to high levels of background noise.
• The candidate may come into contact with large equipment and/or mechanical hazards.

Additional Information:

• Position works a 12 hr day shift, alternating 3-day and 4-day weeks.
• Some overtime work likely required.
• Employees are required to wear safety equipment (safety glasses, safety shoes, protective gloves, etc.)
• Must be able to wear loose fitting respirators
• Must be able to climb stairs
• Must be able to follow written and verbal directions.
• Must complete Individual Training Plan for Operator.
