Job Description

A new opportunity has arisen for a skilled Sales Engineer like you, to oversee and bring expertise to our team.

Rolls-Royce Power Systems is headquartered in Friedrichshafen in southern Germany and employs around 9,000 people. The product portfolio includes mtu-brand high-speed engines and propulsion systems for ships, power generation, heavy land, rail and defence vehicles and for the oil and gas industry as well as diesel and gas systems and battery containers for mission critical, standby and continuous power, combined generation of heat and power, and microgrids.

Key Accountabilities:
1. Business Operation
  • Key Tasks:
    • Handle all sales functions for the product line.
    • Actively seek new opportunities for growth and sales.
    • Engage with potential customers and convincingly promote the company’s offerings.
    • Meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensure that all sales deliverables are fully met.
    • Ensure the execution of sales goals is achieved in a timely and effective manner
2. Leadership
  • Key Tasks:
    • Lead and manage relationships with partners, including System Integrators and Business Partners, to help achieve departmental and company objectives.
    • Assess the capabilities of your team and ensure they have the necessary skills and tools to perform well.
  • Provide ongoing performance management and supervision to the sales team under the guidance of the Head of Sales.
  • Identify areas for improvement in processes and skills and implement necessary training programs to enhance product knowledge and sales performance.

3. QHSE + Integrity & Compliance
  • Key Tasks:
    • Ensure that all activities, both internally and externally, comply with company policies, corporate codes of conduct, ISO standards, and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) guidelines.
    • Uphold quality management and compliance in every aspect of the operation.
4. Customer Engagement
  • Key Tasks:
    • Represent the company at various business meetings, trade shows, conferences, and public events in Mining Sector Customer’s.
    • Engage with key stakeholders in Mining Sector Customer’s to build and strengthen relationships and partnerships.
    • Ensure in Mining Sector Customer’s engagement activities are aligned with the approval of the Head of Sales.
5. Strategy
  • Key Tasks:
    • Continuously develop and execute business strategies that align with the company’s goals.
    • Create innovative sales strategies that drive revenue growth and ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Focus on meeting and exceeding company targets and objectives.
6. Form Organization for Growth
  • Key Tasks:
    • Focus on strategic sales development and improvement of processes, tools, and systems.
    • Align sales strategies with business needs and anticipated growth.
    • Define and implement team structures that enhance efficiency in sales and project management.
7. Partner Network
  • Key Tasks:
  • Identify, select, and maintain relationships with the right business partners, including System Integrators.
  • Regularly evaluate partner performance and capabilities.
  • Work with partners to identify improvement areas and new business opportunities.
  • Set annual performance targets for each partner and guide them towards meeting these targets.
8. Expense Management
  • Key Tasks:
    • Plan and manage the annual operating expenses (OPEX) as approved by management.
    • Ensure budgets are used effectively and efficiently to meet business requirements.
9. Reporting
  • Key Tasks:
    • Prepare and submit regular reports, as assigned.
    • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and data.
10. Collaboration
  • Key Tasks:
    • Cooperate with internal departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment on processes, strategies, and customer support.
    • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across different teams to achieve business objectives.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Degree in Engineering or a related field with relevant experience in a Sales Manager role within the Technical and Engineering industry and/ or Mining. Proficient in both written and spoken English.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP.
  • Over 8 years of experience in B2B sales of industrial goods, with a minimum of 4 years in a Sales Account Management role in Mining/ Industrial Heavy Truck’s Engineering Business.
  • Proven track record of success in managing and growing customer relationships.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire teams, drive performance, and effectively manage cross-functional relationships.
  • Self-driven with a proactive approach to taking initiative and achieving goals. Excellent analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision making. Highly results-oriented, capable of working independently while contributing to team success and driving business growth.
  • Proven success in developing and executing business strategies. A solid history of consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets, with a focus on long-term growth and profitability.
  • Exceptional customer focus, with strong communication and negotiation skills. Ability to understand and anticipate customer needs, build trust, and close deals effectively.
  • Highly skilled in building and maintaining relationships with both external customers and internal stakeholders. Able to create and leverage networks to support business development and operational success.
