Senior Underwriter Fin Pro

About The Role

Are you a pro-active and highly motivated senior insurance professional with experience of professional indemnity and/or general liability and affinity with the construction industry who would like to join the Casualty & Fin Pro team within our Milan branch of Corporate Solutions (Cor So)?

We are looking for a new colleague with corporate insurance experience in Italy, as an underwriter, or corporate insurance manager. The core focus is on underwriting annual and project construction PI, but professional indemnity for other non-regulated industries (miscellaneous/general PI) and general liability is also in scope.

You will demonstrate a deep understanding of clients' requirements and expectations and to lead discussions with Brokers, existing and new Clients. Your main tasks will be handling the renewal portfolio, generating new business opportunities, and analysing the technical insurability in respect of exposures and coverages, reviewing cover structures, wordings, and proposals, and preparing quotations. Your broad knowledge of the market will allow you to attract new opportunities and select the risks carefully and efficiently. Furthermore, you will contribute to Cor So projects, develop wordings, and work in international deal teams.

In addition, as you would be a member of the Italian Casualty & Fin Pro team, you will assist in the origination and underwriting of targeted liability & financial lines business from across Italy.

You will be based in and operate from Milan, with the flexibility of regular home working.

About You

• You fluently communicate in both Italian and English; other languages would be beneficial.
• 10+ years of proven experience in Professional Indemnity and/or General Liability insurance markets.
• Experience and/or established relationships within the construction industry (D&B Contractors, Architects & Engineers) are highly beneficial.
• Proven ability to assess complex risks, coverages, and policy terms & conditions - in their legal context.
• Proficiency in the use of underwriting tools and IT applications.
• High level of numeracy and understanding of actuarial concepts.
• Solid communication, presentation and negotiating skills
• Entrepreneurial disposition, ready to build and shape the future development of the Professional Indemnity portfolio.
• Agile approach to work, with the ability to set priorities and allocate own resources, balancing multiple deals in parallel without losing oversight.
• Strong at building relationships.
• Appropriate level of education, preferably in the field of engineering, law or economics.
• Outstanding teammate ready to help colleagues at all times!
