Yu Life has partnered with Dai-ichi Life Insurance in Japan to redefine employee benefits In the Japanese market. Dai-ich made a £75M investment into Yu Life back in 2022 and since then we have launched a successful pilot with Dai-ichi in which test users were provided with the Yu Life app.

The role:

This is a 6 month fixed term contract.

As our Onsite Translator, you will play a key role in bridging communication between our English speaking team and Japanese speaking clients and partners. You will be based in our Tokyo office, attending meetings and events to provide in-person translation. You will also support with written communication to ensure smooth and clear correspondence in both languages.

Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Translate spoken communication between English and Japanese during client meetings, events, and internal discussions.
• Travel to various client meetings and events to provide in-person translation support.
• Assist with written communication, including emails, documents, and other materials in both English and Japanese.
• Support the team in translating documents, presentations, and marketing materials as needed.
• Help facilitate communication across different levels, ensuring clarity and mutual understanding.
• Participate in ad hoc translation tasks and projects as required.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Fluency in English and Japanese, both written and oral, is essential.
• Confidence in communicating with people at all levels, from senior executives to clients and colleagues.
• Willingness to be present in the Tokyo office 5 days a week and travel for meetings.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively and professionally.
• No prior translation experience needed – just a passion for languages and communication!
