About the role
We invite you to join us in a Casual Senior Medical Officer - Termination of Pregnancy Service
role within Health New Zealand on a negotiable, as required basis. The primary objective of the Health New Zealand Southern role is the provision of comprehensive abortion care including but not limited to:
- Attendance at pregnancy abortion clinics and theater lists.
- Provision of abortion care.
- Supervision of registrars/ SHOs as required.
The Termination of Pregnancy Service service is operational every week Thursday and Friday. Mōu ake | About you
This vacancy is best suited to someone who have vocational registration with Medical Council of New Zealand and can start by November 2024. As Senior Medical Officer - Termination of Pregnancy Service for us, you will have a personal commitment to providing an effective and efficient inpatient and outpatient service and an unequivocal dedication to working as part of a tight knit team.
You will also need:
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.

Salary range
This role belongs to the ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between the Step 1 ($185,380) and Step 15 ($267,980 per annum pro rata) dependant on experience.
