Sunday to Thursday (term time only)

Cater Plus is proud to be the service provider for catering services at New Plymouth Girls’ High School’s Hostel and Café where we cater for approximately 110 students who board on site during the school term, as well as operate the school cafeteria. Our aim is to provide a home away from home with a delicious meal service that supports health and wellbeing and provides the fuel needed for success.

This position is working approximately 28 hours per week. On a Sunday you will work 10am – 6.30pm sole charge cooking lunch and dinner for the small number of students who stay in the hostel over the weekend. Monday to Thursday you will work 1.30pm – 7pm providing Catering Assistant support to the Chef. This position works school term time only, meaning there is no work during school holidays - perfect for someone seeking work/life balance and more time to spend with family.

What you’ll do:

• prepare food to menu requirements under the direction of a chef manager.
• ensure the kitchen is safe and hazard free by doing dishes, removing rubbish, and cleaning.
• support the chef with food preparation.
• assist with service and clearing away afterwards.
• top up supplies, help to keep the kitchen running smoothly, and left clean and tidy at the end of shift.

Who You Are:

• have bulk cooking experience, either within a commercial kitchen, or as an accomplished home cook.
• a flexible team player who can stay cool under pressure.
• friendly and engaging and enjoy making the students’ day by serving amazing meals.
• able to work safely in an industrial kitchen with large hot pots and trays.
• able to take initiative and be comfortable to work unsupervised when required.
