We’re seeking an experienced and skilled Garment Technologist Lead – to guide and oversee our Apparel Quality team, this role is key in upholding quality standards; delivering compliant and safe apparel ranges that merge great value and fantastic quality – exceeding our customers’ expectations!


Job Description
Our Garment Technologist Lead is responsible for overseeing & guiding our team, elevating both performance and product quality through the use of 3D technology. This highly collaborative position requires close interaction with Design, Buying, Sourcing, and offshore teams - you will manage product development, garment execution, and support production processes, ensuring all quality assurance standards are met from initial design concepts through to the final product.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker capable of defining departmental objectives and driving operational efficiencies.
Responsibilities:
  • Team Management:
    Mentor and manage a team of garment technologists, providing guidance, support, and training to enhance their skills and performance. Support 3D training and foster team growth. Drive cross functional collaboration to support the Apparel Garment Technologist team.
  • Technical Leadership:
    Oversee technical product development teams for Women’s, Men’s, and Kids Apparel. This includes creating tech packs, fitting, grading and instructing construction techniques for both physical samples and virtual 3D creations.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Ensure all products meet quality standards through rigorous testing and validation. Analyse quality performance data and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement and implement preventive measures.
  • 3D Technology:
    Drive best practices and continuous improvement for 3D technology innovation and integration.
  • Offshore Supplier Relationships & Problem Solving:
    Address and resolve technical issues during development and production, implementing solutions to maintain product integrity. Manage quality claims or cancellations for stock in NZ.
  • Critical Path Management:
    Proactively manage critical deadlines to ensure timelines are met while seeking opportunities to enhance efficiency and streamline processes.
Qualifications
A snapshot of what we’re looking for:
  • Experience:
    7+ years in a garment technology or product development role.
  • Technical Skills:
    Proficiency in tech packs, garment construction, pattern making, product development, grading/sizing and fitting.

  • Quality Assurance

    Strong knowledge of compliance with NZ safety standards and quality control procedures.
  • Leadership
    :
    Proven ability to lead and inspire a team.
  • 3D Apparel Software:
    Experience with Browzwear VStitcher (preferred), or other 3D apparel development programs. Ability to confidently create, amend, and fit in a virtual workspace.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Skills:
    Strong organizational and analytical skills along with excellent communication skills

  • Attention to Detail:
    Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering the best possible products to our customers.
