At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 108 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.

More than 6,000 children now attend one of Whānau Manaaki’s 108 kindergartens and around 150 children are enrolled with our Pasifika-focused Etu Ao homebased service.

Community Description
Matariki Kindergarten is located in the Trentham/Wallaceville area of Upper Hutt, with a welcoming and inclusive learning environment that provides valuable opportunities for tamariki engagement and learning. We have a beautiful purpose built, well resourced environment which supports a whanau based approach to teaching.

We are a whānau-based full day kindergarten open 49 weeks of the year, with a 100% qualified teaching team. We provide a range of options for families of babies, toddlers and young children, with a licence for 5 x 0-2 year olds and 40 x 2-5 year olds.

You will join our team of 11, working 40 hours over 5 days, and will be flexible around shift times as these are rostered. You will also need to attend our out-of-hours staff meeting each fortnight and join in with our whānau and community events once a term.

We are looking for an ECE teacher who demonstrates a strong commitment to:

• showing confidence in their practice with infants and toddlers and is enthusiastic about supporting tuakana teina and learning focused relationships with all tamariki.
• using Te Reo and Tikanga Māori in everyday teaching practice in ways that recognise the unique status of tangata whenua in Aotearoa New Zealand.
• demonstrating a growth mindset using open and effective communication with a sense of humour and the ability to be flexible in their approach.
• using high levels of emotional intelligence to build and maintain learning focused and collaborative relationships in a large teaching team and diverse learning community.
