About the Role
The Breast Care Services team are based within the Outpatients Department at Southland Hospital and is a small, friendly team who provide essential and specialised breast care to inpatients and outpatients. We are lucky to work alongside a dedicated and dynamic multi-disciplinary team which include Clinical Nurse Specialists, Administration staff, Consultants, Registrars and radiology teams.
Your role as a Registered Nurse within the Breast Care Service will primarily focus on patient education and support.
Other aspects of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Assistance with outpatient clinics
- Quality Improvement of the service
- Ongoing surveillance of our Breast Care patients who have had a diagnosis of Cancer and coordination of their care
- Working with our multi-professional team and other related breast care services to ensure best outcomes for our Southern population
- Working towards nurse led clinics
Whilst you are in this role you will be supported through completion of a Post-Graduate qualification in Breast Care and will be working alongside a supportive team who truly value point of contact education.

Our ideal candidate will have:
- Current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC, with the right to work in New Zealand.
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals.
- Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
- The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings

Salary Range
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO Collective, and the salary will be in accordance with the Registered Nurse Scale, between Step 2 $81,683 and $106,739 p.a dependant on relevant experience.
