Registered Nurse - Te Punaka Oraka (Public Health Nursing)

- Monday to Friday permanent position
- School Preschool visiting, tamariki, rangatahi, hauora with a whānau ora approach. This is a community based role supporting well health and development, immunisations on time and other Public Health priorities
- Full-time 1 FTE (40 hours per week)
About the role
Te Punaka Oraka - Public Health Nursing provides a range of tamariki, rangatahi and hauora services within the whānau and community setting. Includes schools, preschools visiting program and home visiting. The role will provide health advice and support to schools preschools and the delivery of tamariki, rangatahi and whānau health assessments, health promotion, protection and referrals to other health and support services including immunisations in a range of settings.
This is an incredible opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Southland team. This role will require some travel to cover Northern Central Southland rural area.

In order to be successful in this position you will also need to demonstrate the following:
- Experience and understanding of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi/ Māori health equity and disparities
- Advanced communication skills with the ability and passion to work with a diverse range of children, young people and their family's whānau
- Open minded, quality driven, with the ability to work both independently and as a valued member of a supportive, friendly team
- Strong computer literacy skills and a full clean driver's license is essential
- Current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings

This role belongs to the Te Whatu Ora/NZNO Collective Agreement and falls between Step 2 ($81,683 p.a. pro-rata) and Step 7 ($106,739) p.a. pro-rata of the Registered Nurse Salary Scale.
