Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₦90,000.00 - ₦100,000.00 per month
- Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, including fillings, extractions, root canal treatments, crowns, bridges, and implants.
- Prepare and layout dental instruments and materials for the dentist before procedures.
- Handle suction devices, retractors, and other dental equipment to assist the dentist in maintaining a clear working area.
- Mix materials for fillings, impressions, and other dental work as needed.
- Ensure that the patient remains comfortable and at ease throughout the treatment.
- Welcome patients and provide reassurance before, during, and after treatment, addressing any concerns or questions.
- Monitor and support patients during treatment, particularly anxious or pediatric patients, to ensure their well-being.
- Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients, helping them understand their treatment and aftercare procedures.
- Offer guidance on proper oral hygiene and care after treatments to promote healing and prevent complications.
- Sterilize dental instruments and equipment following clinic protocols and regulatory standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control guidelines, maintaining a clean and sterile working environment.
- Disinfect treatment areas between patients and prepare the room for the next procedure.
- Safely dispose of hazardous waste and handle sharps according to clinic policies and Lagos State health regulations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including notes on treatment provided, materials used, and patient care instructions.
- Assist in the scheduling of appointments, patient check-in, and check-out procedures using clinic management software.
- Handle patient queries regarding treatments, costs, and scheduling in a professional and helpful manner.
- Support the dental team in managing stock and inventory of dental supplies, ensuring that essential materials are always available.
- Assist with taking dental radiographs (X-rays) by positioning patients and preparing the necessary equipment.
- Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, including the use of protective gear for both patients and staff.
- Process and store radiographs in patient records, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and data protection standards.
- Provide a first-class experience to patients by delivering friendly, professional, and efficient care.
- Maintain a calm and inviting clinic atmosphere, catering to high-income clients and expatriates who may have specific service expectations.
- Communicate clearly with patients, offering empathetic support and ensuring they feel valued throughout their visit.
- Handle difficult situations or complaints with professionalism, ensuring patient satisfaction and addressing any issues promptly.
- Set up dental equipment, such as X-ray machines, sterilizers, and dental chairs, ensuring they are in good working order before use.
- Perform routine checks and minor maintenance on dental equipment and instruments to ensure proper functionality.
- Report any malfunctions or need for repairs to clinic management or relevant authorities promptly.
- Work closely with dentists, dental hygienists, and other support staff to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic.
- Participate in clinical meetings to discuss cases, patient care, and clinic improvement strategies.
- Support the team in delivering seamless, high-quality patient care, ensuring that all procedures run efficiently.
- National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Dental Nursing or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Full registration with the Dental Therapists Registration Board of Nigeria (DTRBN).
- Valid practicing license from the DTRBN.
- Previous experience in a private dental clinic or upscale healthcare facility is an added advantage
- Proficient in assisting with a wide range of dental procedures and treatments.
- Strong knowledge of sterilization and infection control procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients and the dental team.
- Ability to provide calm and compassionate patient care, especially for those who are anxious about dental procedures.
- Well-organized with attention to detail, especially in maintaining accurate patient records and inventory.
- High level of professionalism and customer service, with a focus on delivering a premium experience to patients.
- Familiarity with dental clinic software and radiography techniques is desirable.
