We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Position: Mechanical Engineer
Job Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose
- To design, develop, and oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment within various construction projects.
- The Mechanical Engineer will ensure that all mechanical components are functional, safe, and efficient while meeting project requirements, quality standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Develop and review mechanical designs, specifications, and drawings for HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems in line with project requirements.
- Perform technical calculations and simulations to determine mechanical performance and safety standards.
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials and equipment for mechanical systems.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems on construction sites.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and project specifications during the installation process.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to design specifications.
- Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems into the overall building design.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate mechanical engineering activities to ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
- Monitor and control project costs, ensuring efficient resource allocation and minimizing wastage.
- Develop maintenance schedules and procedures for mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults, providing technical solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure timely repairs and upgrades.
- Ensure all mechanical systems comply with local, state, and national regulations, as well as company standards.
- Perform quality assurance checks and inspections to ensure the highest standards of workmanship.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all mechanical engineering activities, including drawings, specifications, and maintenance records.
- Evaluate and manage suppliers and subcontractors for mechanical components and services.
- Review and approve vendor proposals, ensuring alignment with project requirements and budgets.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
- Identify opportunities for improving mechanical systems, processes, and project delivery.
- Provide training and guidance to junior engineers and technicians as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the construction or real estate industry.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation.
- Proficiency in Auto CAD, Revit, or other mechanical design software.
- Experience with project management tools and software.
