Join a global and market-leading logistics provider in a pivotal role as Vessel Operator. For one of our valued clients, we oversee the day-to-day operations of their ship in active trading along the Norwegian west coast. You will be part of a highly experienced and competent team based in Bergen, working closely with several stakeholders to ensure customer success and further develop our Project Logistics team.
Your Role
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient management of our clients’ fleet, ensuring timely delivery of cargo and adherence to the agreed schedule. You will maintain close communication with ship owners, shippers, as well as clients booking cargo. To facilitate daily operations, close collaboration with the crew, port authorities, and third parties is essential. You will contribute to our continued commercial growth through partnerships with our development team and by following up with existing clients. The role reports to the National Chartering Manager.Your Responsibilities
- Daily planning of vessels schedule and port calls, prepare load- and discharge plan and stowage-plan with vessels crew.
- Cost control for all services arranged on behalf of owners
- Actively seek and develop new business opportunities within the project division
- Daily solve challenges and follow up project cargo handling which includes planning, documentation, and optimization for both Kuehne+Nagel and our customers.
- Use and develop your knowledge of C/P’s and manage contractual responsibilities towards clients and subcontractors
- Prepare and issue offers to clients, in close collaboration with product and sales
- Participate in client meetings and exhibitions. Create and obtain optimal solutions, calculate costs and present them to both new and existing clients
- Act as a key advisor between Kuehne+Nagel Norway and our clients
Your Skills and Experiences
- Prior knowledge / experience within Shipping/Logistics industry is an advantage
- Commercial mind-set; Able to think out of the box
- Solutions oriented
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. Fluency in Norwegian and English is required
- Structured and self-reliant
- Capable to perform under pressure
- Solid IT-/system understanding
