Wood is currently recruiting for a Geologist (Engineer) to join our team in Lima, Peru. The role is hybrid in-nature; however candidates with extensive progressive experience in general engineering with 8 (eight) years of experience, with 6 years of proven experience in mineral resource estimation and 5 years developing geological models for open pit and underground mining projects/operations, under the regulations of international codes (NI-43-101, JORC, SK – 1300.
Role-Specific Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to provide guidance and direction to project team, managing, motivating, and mentoring professional geologist specialists.
- Ability to discover issues and recommend solutions to technical and commercial issues uncovered during course of performing assignments
- Proficient user of relevant commercial mining softwares: Vulcan, Mine Sight, Leapfrog, Data Mine, and geostatistics packages
- Professional level of ability to development and application of standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution
- Professional level of knowledge of applicable codes and standards
- Technically competent in geological modeling and mineral resources estimation, for a variety of ore deposits such as: Skarn, IOCG, Cu Porphyries, high and low sulfidation epithermal gold deposits, polymetallic deposits, VMS among others. Pursues continuous professional development of skills and knowledge according to standards.
- Maintains own knowledge of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments and promotes to direct reports.
- Applies mature professional knowledge and experience to assignments where issues and factors to be considered may be characterized by unusual demands and require additional evaluation to establish the nature and scope of the problem
- Demonstrated ability to apply advanced laws, principles, mathematics or industry knowledge in the improvement and development of robust skills scripting and/or macro and programming languages using Python is desired
- Demonstrated skills in persuasion, negotiation, motivation, and communication in both English and Spanish languages
- Demonstrated proficiency in project planning
- Possess a working knowledge of the various Business Units, Functions, Sectors and services offered within business area, and general understanding of other Wood business offerings
- Solutions-oriented and creative, able to apply process and rigour to deliver quality solutions
- Compelling communicator both verbally and in written form
- Good interpersonal and team working skills, builds positive relationships with supervisors, subordinates, peers and clients
- Enthusiastic, conscientious, and committed to continuous professional development
- High level of awareness and commitment to safety in all aspects of daily work.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Highly motivated and demonstrates personal initiative.
- Possesses integrity, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and is dependable.
- Adaptable and flexible to the changing needs of projects
- ISCED Level 6 Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 Masters (preferred) Degree in Geology or a related Earth science
- Chartership or relevant professional geologist status accredited by a national or industry engineering institution preferred
- Requires mature professional knowledge and extensive progressive experience in general engineering.
- Requires at least 8 years of experience, distributed in 6 years of proven experience in mineral resource estimation and 5 years developing geological models for open pit and underground mining projects/operations, under the regulations of international codes (NI-43-101, JORC, SK – 1300)
