DUTIES:
The Accountant serves as the primary point of contact and accounting specialist responsible for analyzing, evaluating, and coordinating all accounting matters for the assigned portfolio of activities managed by USAID/Peru and its Client Missions (Paraguay, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, and Ecuador). The total portfolio amounts to over $542 million and includes a wide range of programmatic activities in various sectors including Governance and Institutional Strengthening, Environment and Sustainable Growth, and Alternative Development. The activities have been awarded through various implementation mechanisms and contain an assortment of financing arrangements.
The job holder is responsible for all facets of financial management for the assigned portfolio. Accordingly, the incumbent performs budget formulation, analysis, and execution for both program and operating expense (OE) funds.
The job holder maintains continuous dialogue with project and administrative officers in USAID/Peru and Client Missions, ensuring proper and timely accounting of technical and support activities.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of five years of professional experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial management is required. At least 3 years of this experience should have been in development assistance or related work with the U.S. Government, host government, civil society organizations, other donor agencies, or the private sector.
EDUCATION:
Completion of a University degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is required.
