The Role
As a Data Engineer within our EMEA Data & Intelligence team, your primary focus will be supporting the development and evolution of data products for clients. This includes leveraging Python and SQL within the Microsoft Azure and BI stacks as well as working with the Data & Intelligence analysts to leverage a combination of low code / no code and cloud technologies.
In addition, you will be responsible for the delivery of AI-based features into our products and contributing to Dev Ops for Burson owned platforms.
The role can be remote or hybrid, depending on location. You as part of a fixed, distributed development team embedded into multiple product teams, collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, geographies, and functions.
This is a regional position; we are open to where this role could be based. Burson EMEA offices are located in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, Finland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Ukraine, Bahrain, Egypt, Kenya, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

Your role as a Burson person

• Data Types: Working with structured and unstructured data, accessed largely via REST APIs.
• Development: Experience with connecting Power BI / Apps / Automate and Share Point resources to data processing pipelines and storage in Azure stack
• Azure & BI stack: Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and experience with infrastructure and services, with the ability to design and deploy architectures for data products using Data Factory, Azure Dev Ops, Fuction and Logic Apps. Candidates will also work in Azure AI studio and with Azure batch jobs.
• Scripting and Programming: Proficiency in Python. Additional scripting languages and/or one or more programming languages such as Java, R, DAX, M is an advantage.
• SQL and No SQL Databases and Data Lakes: Familiarity with SQL and No SQL databases such as Mongo DB, and in file formats such as Parquet for data storage and retrieval.
• Data Preparation and Processing Techniques: Understanding of data preparation and processing techniques such as data cleaning, normalization, data imputation, feature engineering, and data transformation, as well as experience with tools and technologies such as Pandas, Num Py, and Sci Py.
• Machine Learning: Knowledge of and experience in working with Machine Learning algorithms such as topic models and other natural language processing methods in production and working collaboratively with data scientists.
• Consulting and Client Engagement: Proactively establish expectations and maintain continuous, reliable communication with client stakeholders, including Project Managers, client-side Product Owners, and Business Stakeholders.

You will bring along with you

• Qualification in Computer Science or comparable practical experience
• Experience in designing and implementing end to end business intelligence solutions
• Communication Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with other developers, designers, and stakeholders, and to communicate technical concepts to non-technical team members.
• Agile and Dev Ops Methodologies and Dev Ops philosophy/mindset: Familiarity with agile working methodologies, such as scrum and kanban, agile development methodologies and the Dev Ops culture of collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement.
• Version Control: Experience with version control systems such as Git, and knowledge of best practices for collaboration and code review.
• API Development: Understanding of RESTful API design principles and experience with API development frameworks such as Flask.
• Testing and Debugging: ability to use tools like Python Unit Tests to identify and fix bugs, as well as writing automated tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
