Our partner, ABN AMRO Clearing, is a global leader in the domain of clearing, offering access to a wide range of listed instruments on markets across the globe.
IT is at the heart of their organization with more than 30 different product teams and 10 different platform teams that are trying to build the best products & services for their customers.
Their presence in important financial centers like Amsterdam, Chicago, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo Hong Kong, London, Sao Paulo, Frankfurt and Iasi, allows them to effectively serve clients worldwide and maintain close proximity to their diverse customer base.


THE ROLE INVOLVES:
Our partner is expanding across the globe, seeking various levels of experience for their Java chapter. Within the Java chapter, the developers work on various Java projects across the globe, so this the ideal opportunity to collaborate with a global leader in finance in its digital transformation.
Examples of projects that are currently being undertaken:

• Migrating the exchange connectivity applications from on-premise platforms to a hybrid mix of on-premise containerization platforms (like Red Hat Open Shift) and serverless cloud infrastructure (like AWS ECS).
• Creating a future-proof client & regulatory landscape with many Java-based applications that require green-field & refactoring towards target platforms (as mentioned above).

This job description is set-up slightly more generic on purpose, so you'll be able to see what various teams are doing and find a good fit based on your experience and preference.
Within the role of a Java Dev Ops Engineer, we seek multiple people that have worked with Java (or Typescript) before and know their way around AWS and/or Open Shift.
Setting up AWS Code Pipeline or Gitlab pipelines should be familiar to you, as well as the networking components that AWS offers.
Java development experience is appreciated, as the teams you will be working in, will have Java as their main development language.
Responsibilities:

• Transform the current application from EKS to other services like ECS
• Improve CI/CD pipelines
• Collaborate with developers on software requirements
• Encourage and build automated processes wherever possible
• React quickly to feedback to continuously improve processes
• Informally train and share your Dev Ops knowledge within the team
• Build a bridge to the cloud platform teams

TECHNICAL PLAYGROUND:

• 4+ years of experience as a Java Dev Ops Engineer
• Experience with cloud native services on AWS (ECS is required, other services are appreciated)
• Experience working with source control tools like GIT
• Experience with automation of your deployments in AWS Code Commit and AWS Code Pipeline
• Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in always-availability services
• Setup and configure CI/CD pipelines in a Microservices architecture landscape

NICE TO HAVE:

• Experience with creating Docker containers
• AWS developer or relevant certifications obtained
• Awareness of critical concepts in Dev Ops and Agile principles
• A demonstrated record of achievement in large technical (migration) projects
• Ability to keep up with software and cloud development trends and innovation
• Understanding of financial services and risk management in general
• University degree in Computer Science/Engineering

• Fluent English, with good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong engineering instinct (do the right thing), a deep understanding of computer science
• Strong interpersonal and assertive communication skills, great team member
