Arabic Language Resident Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
a) Arabic Language Curriculum Implementation and Mentorship
1. Implement Arabic language standards that are set by the primary madrasah in Singapore which are to enhance students' proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
2. Provide mentoring and ongoing support to teachers in implementing effective language teaching strategies, including co-planning and co-teaching opportunities.
3. Integrate language learning strategies into the overall madrasah curriculum.
4. Collaborate with Arabic language teachers in their assessment practices to identify language learning needs and track students' progress.
5. Offer mentorship and support to Arabic language teachers in implementing the desired curriculum, incorporating effective language teaching strategies, and providing co-planning and co-teaching opportunities.
6. Offer mentorship and support to the Arabic language professional learning community (PLC) in the madrasah, aiming to enhance lesson delivery and overall Arabic language acquisition.
b) Students’ Engagement
1. Enhance existing Arabic language extra-curricular activities in the madrasah.
2. Conduct and facilitate Arabic language workshops for students from primary one to six,
minimally in every semester.
3. Enhance and track students’ speaking and listening skills and competency through Arabic language activities.
4. Create an Arabic language-rich environment within the madrasah to promote students’ Arabic language acquisition and literacy.
Qualifications and Skills:
§ Minimum bachelor’s degree in education, Arabic linguistics, or related field. Master’s degree will be an advantage.
§ Additional certification in language teaching such as Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL) or related field.
§ Proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic with at least one major Arabic dialect.
§ Good command of English language for general communication in Singapore.
§ 7 – 10 years of experience in teaching Arabic language at primary, secondary or post-secondary level.
§ Experience in mentoring other teachers or leading professional development sessions is preferred.
§ Experience in education technology for language acquisition would be beneficial.
