Des Cartes Program (work package 9) is looking for an intern to validate outdoor thermal comfort hybrid models by deploying a sensor network that can provide measurements to the Des Cartes hybrid model.


DESCARTES PROGRAM


The Des Cartes programme is developing a hybrid AI, combining Learning, Knowledge and Reasoning, which has good properties (need for less resources and data, security, robustness, fairness, respect for privacy, ethics), and demonstrated on industrial applications of the smart city (digital energy, monitoring of structures, air traffic control).


The program brings together 80 permanent researchers (half from France, half from Singapore), with the support of large industrial groups (Thales SG, EDF SG, ESI group, CETIM Matcor, ARIA etc.).
Hybrid AI leaps forward, beyond the current black-box procedures used in fully data-driven AI. It embraces “analog” and “digital” worlds, combining physics knowledge with AI-based data-driven models, giving rise to the novel Hybrid Twins concept within physics-aware AI, that will be the main building block of intelligent modelling.


These methodologies allow speed-up conventional physics-based modelling approaches. In this context almost real time estimations can be prepared


In this context, Des Cartes wants to validate outdoor thermal comfort hybrid models by deploying a sensor network that can provide measurements to the hybrid model. This is going to carried out in U-Town (NUS).

DESCRIPTION


As a research intern, your responsabilities will be to:

• Review state of the art of meteorological sensors
• Asure quality check of the data
• Deploy sensors in the field and maintain them throuhout the campaign
• Analysis / post-process of the measurements

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Environmetal knowledge (prefereble atmospheric)
• Knowledge of installation, wiring and power management of outdoor sensors (preferable)
• Data logging and data transfer skills;
• Basic programming skills (python)
• Self-motivated, with initiative and autonomy
