OVERVIEW:


The Operations Director is overall responsible for overseeing the successful running of the Domestic / Cross Border Operations of the company, which includes Air and Ocean Freight operations.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Provide leadership & decision making to the operations departments

• Setting of goals & objectives for operations and product to achieve annual volume growth targets in conjunction with sales and participates in company marketing and sales efforts

• Manage the integration & implementation of new structures developed in operations

• Manage resources including tackling staff performance issues and identification of training needs, reviewing productivity and local recruitment

• Ensure all transports are carried out within predetermined cost and security standards and perform annual service and cost reviews to ensure we meet market requirements

• Ensure the operations departments adhere to all quality requirements e.g. operational compliance & certifications, ISO, Bizsafe Star, etc. and work with Finance to adhere to financial compliance requirements

• Prepare monthly reports relating to productivity, profitability, compliance etc.
  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• A Diploma / Advance Diploma / BSc. degree in business and supply chain preferred or their equivalent.

• 10+ years of air and ocean freight products

• Highly motivated leader who is assertive and adept at working in a competitive, challenging and fast-paced work environment

• Results oriented

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

• English advanced proficiency (written and speaking)

• Cargowise system, Advance Microsoft Excel & Power Point skills

• Willing to travel occasionally
  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct performance evaluation for direct reports

• Recommend hiring, firing and promotion

• Identify and resolve departmental personnel issues

• Ongoing coaching and mentoring of staff to develop skills to the highest level

• Drives alignment & builds the team
  

ENVIRONMENT:


100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Travel will be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and finger to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch; lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds .
